The Republic of Ecuador straddles the Equator. It is bordered by Colombia to the North and Northeast, and by Peru to the south and southeast.  Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America. Yet despite it's small size, Ecuador is one of the most geographically varied countries in the world. Ecuador is a Spanish-speaking country and has a democratically elected government. Short CV

Dr Stefano Filletti graduated Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Legal & Humanistic Studies) and Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta. After being awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he furthered his studies in Public International Law of the Sea and Shipping Law at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI, run in conjunction with the International Maritime Organisation - IMO), where he was awarded a Masters of Law (LL.M.) with distinction.  As a Chevening Scholar he furthered his studies in Public International Law of the Sea, Advanced Criminal Law and the Law of Evidence at the University of Oxford (Pembroke College), where he was awarded a Magister Juris Degree (M.Jur) with distinction.  Dr Stefano Filletti as a member of the Chamber of Advocates (Malta) has been admitted to the bar and is now in private legal practice. His professional activity has grown considerably in various branches of law. He also heads the criminal law department at the Faculty of Laws, University of Malta.
