The first record we have of a Norwegian Consul in Malta goes back to the early 20th century with a Mr. F.W. Paterson who resigned the post in 1928.  By Royal decree of 1st February 1929, Capt. Arthur Zammit Cutajar was appointed Consul, a position he held until his death in 1958.  His son, Alfred, the father of the present day Consul General, assumed the role of Consul in 1958 and held this post until reaching retirement age in 1984.  I was appointed Consul in 1984 and Consul General in 1990.  In May 1996 I was made an Officer of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit and in January 2006 I was appointed Commander of the same Order. It has been a great honour for three generations of my family to have served the Kingdom of Norway as its consular representative in Malta for the past 83 years.
